Dear future whales & VanEck NFT community,
This week’s note focuses on the gaming side of NFTs. I introduce projects that should be fun to play (the first one is my favorite). If you don’t like to play games, I offer a solution for that too. Also, look out for future editions of Blubber Notes where we’ll discuss other NFT categories such as metaverse land and music.
Summary of today's notes:
Featured Projects: All About games!
Upcoming GameFi Platform
Alpha Leaks
Featured Projects: Thank you to the BoredBox.io team for introducing me to the projects below.
EV.io - Browser-based, FPS (first-person shooter). In short, it’s insanely fun! The project has already minted a few items, but there is still time to get involved. Try the beta!
Fun equals profit: Besides being one of the best browser-based FPS titles I’ve tried, players can earn rewards, including SOL (Solana) for hitting certain achievements.
Dark Taverns - Free MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) with hints of “The Legend of Zelda.”
Why it’s special: It is a free, MMO that has the typical dungeons, adventures, mysteries and quests. The Tavern is the starting point or gathering place for players. The more players who visit yours, the more optionality and perks that comes with owning a tavern NFT. However, it’s not an NFT game, but rather a game that has NFTs in it. This means you can mint your rare items into NFTs and sell them to other players.
Shrapnel - FPS (first-person shooter) with potential Call of Duty-like experience.
What makes it unique? It has true in-game looting, meaning players can decide what equipment NFTs they want to take into the warzone. If you die, you drop your NFTs on the battlefield and others can pick them up and then sell in the marketplace. This concept naturally rewards players based on skill level while also making them take certain risk-adjusted decisions surrounding what NFTs they decide to equip for tournaments, general gameplay, etc.
You have skin in the game: Shrapnel players are able to customize skins that they can mint into NFTs and sell on secondary marketplaces. Similar to Dark Taverns, it empowers the player and lets them participate in the revenue side of a gaming ecosystem.
Upcoming GameFi Platform:
What if you don’t have time to play games? - Welcome to Arcade2Earn!
What is Arcade2Earn? Arcade will enable participation in games across multiple ecosystems and metaverse environments. To simplify this, if you are not good at or not interested in playing games, Arcade2Earn still lets you join the action. You can deposit Arcade tokens into various “mission pools,” similar to contracted quests played by some of the best players globally. When a player or “Mission Pool Operator” earns gaming rewards, you get them as well!
Sneak Peeks: I’d consider these trailers to be Alpha in their own right.
Mission Pool promotional video for the AAA+ game Star Atlas
Mission Pool Trailers for AIFA from Altered State Machine
Alpha Leaks:
BoredBox.io - Box 2 is coming! The games are awesome and you'd benefit from already owning a genesis box (still mintable at Boredbox.io/mint) prior to box 2 dropping.
Flufworld - More confirmation around Flufs getting an airdrop of the ecosystem’s native token, Mycelium. This will be the primary in-game token for the FLUF World. Jeff is the Founder of ATEM Car Club.
0xTHULU - Don’t forget that the public mint takes place at 5:15pm ET on August 24th and be live until they sell out. Watch this 4-minute video to learn more!

Cryptocurrency is a digital representation of value that functions as a medium of exchange, a unit of account, or a store of value, but it does not have legal tender status. Cryptocurrencies are sometimes exchanged for U.S. dollars or other currencies around the world, but they are not generally backed or supported by any government or central bank. Their value is completely derived by market forces of supply and demand, and they are more volatile than traditional currencies. The value of cryptocurrency may be derived from the continued willingness of market participants to exchange fiat currency for cryptocurrency, which may result in the potential for permanent and total loss of value of a particular cryptocurrency should the market for that cryptocurrency disappear. Cryptocurrencies are not covered by either FDIC or SIPC insurance. Legislative and regulatory changes or actions at the state, federal, or international level may adversely affect the use, transfer, exchange, and value of cryptocurrency.
Investing in cryptocurrencies comes with a number of risks, including volatile market price swings or flash crashes, market manipulation, and cybersecurity risks. In addition, cryptocurrency markets and exchanges are not regulated with the same controls or customer protections available in equity, option, futures, or foreign exchange investing. There is no assurance that a person who accepts a cryptocurrency as payment today will continue to do so in the future.
Investors should conduct extensive research into the legitimacy of each individual cryptocurrency, including its platform, before investing. The features, functions, characteristics, operation, use and other properties of the specific cryptocurrency may be complex, technical, or difficult to understand or evaluate. The cryptocurrency may be vulnerable to attacks on the security, integrity or operation, including attacks using computing power sufficient to overwhelm the normal operation of the cryptocurrency’s blockchain or other underlying technology. Some cryptocurrency transactions will be deemed to be made when recorded on a public ledger, which is not necessarily the date or time that a transaction may have been initiated.
· Investors must have the financial ability, sophistication and willingness to bear the risks of an investment and a potential total loss of their entire investment in cryptocurrency.
· An investment in cryptocurrency is not suitable or desirable for all investors.
· Cryptocurrency has limited operating history or performance.
· Fees and expenses associated with a cryptocurrency investment may be substantial.
There may be risks posed by the lack of regulation for cryptocurrencies and any future regulatory developments could affect the viability and expansion of the use of cryptocurrencies. Investors should conduct extensive research before investing in cryptocurrencies.
