Dear Future Whales,
I've just returned from a highly productive trip to Austin, Texas, where I attended Permissionless. In today's update, I'm excited to share some key highlights from the event, along with an exciting new value-added offering from the Bankless team. Additionally, I'll be covering the most crucial Alpha in the space that you should definitely have on your radar. So, let's dive right in!
Summary:
Highlights from Permissionless
Bankless Value-add
The Best Alpha in Web3
👇 Permissionless highlights
Most Fun dApp: Eyeball -
The release of this exciting new application is scheduled for November, but I foresee a surge of interest among web3 influencers once it becomes available. Given that a significant portion of cryptocurrency investors rely on social media for guidance on token investments, Eyeball aims to transform into a TikTok-inspired platform for sharing advice. Users will have the opportunity to create and share short-form videos showcasing their latest Alpha discoveries and recommendations.
Great Introduction: ItsDonny -
You never know who you might cross paths with at these conferences, and I had the fortunate experience of sharing a table with ItsDonny while indulging in some incredibly spicy Indian cuisine. ItsDonny is the host of a recurring Spaces session centered around Ordinals, aptly named "Don't Say NFT." I've had the pleasure of tuning in to several of these sessions and have found them to be exceptionally informative. I highly recommend them for anyone interested in exploring the world of Ordinals!
Notes on Ledger:
I had the opportunity to personally examine the new Ledger Stax, and to be brief, I'm not convinced it's worth shelling out $279 just yet for one of these high-end hardware wallets. Although the Ledger representative mentioned the possibility of incorporating games into these devices in the future, it's still a substantial investment for a hardware wallet that might only offer Snake or similar games down the road. Instead, I opted for the more budget-friendly choice and purchased the new Nano S Plus for $79, which boasts a fresh Retro Gaming design in terms of color choices. This option provides excellent value for the price.
Other news during the week of Permissionless:
POAP holders can now communicate with others who hold similar POAPs using the Coinbase wallet. This is an exciting new feature that facilitates direct communication between creators, projects, and their community members, fostering stronger connections within the community.
MetaMask has introduced a groundbreaking feature called MetaMask Snaps, and it has the potential to be a game-changer. Snaps empower developers to expand and enhance the functionality of the MetaMask wallet. This includes the ability to introduce features that can significantly improve onboarding processes and user experiences. To gain a quick and clear understanding of what MetaMask Snaps are, you can tune into the Bankless podcast, where they hosted Dan Finley, the co-creator of MetaMask. If you're looking for a concise explanation, you can jump ahead to the 5:30-minute mark in the podcast.
🪙 Bankless Value-adds
The Bankless team has just introduced an exciting feature called "Claimables." It's as straightforward as pasting your Web3 wallet address, running a quick scan, and discovering any airdrops or unredeemed rewards you may have missed. Personally, I was pleasantly surprised to find a $30 Looks Rare Staking credit that I had somehow overlooked. I highly recommend giving it a try and bookmarking it for future scans. You never know what hidden treasures you might uncover!

Cryptocurrency is a digital representation of value that functions as a medium of exchange, a unit of account, or a store of value, but it does not have legal tender status. Cryptocurrencies are sometimes exchanged for U.S. dollars or other currencies around the world, but they are not generally backed or supported by any government or central bank. Their value is completely derived by market forces of supply and demand, and they are more volatile than traditional currencies. The value of cryptocurrency may be derived from the continued willingness of market participants to exchange fiat currency for cryptocurrency, which may result in the potential for permanent and total loss of value of a particular cryptocurrency should the market for that cryptocurrency disappear. Cryptocurrencies are not covered by either FDIC or SIPC insurance. Legislative and regulatory changes or actions at the state, federal, or international level may adversely affect the use, transfer, exchange, and value of cryptocurrency.
Investing in cryptocurrencies comes with a number of risks, including volatile market price swings or flash crashes, market manipulation, and cybersecurity risks. In addition, cryptocurrency markets and exchanges are not regulated with the same controls or customer protections available in equity, option, futures, or foreign exchange investing. There is no assurance that a person who accepts a cryptocurrency as payment today will continue to do so in the future.
Investors should conduct extensive research into the legitimacy of each individual cryptocurrency, including its platform, before investing. The features, functions, characteristics, operation, use and other properties of the specific cryptocurrency may be complex, technical, or difficult to understand or evaluate. The cryptocurrency may be vulnerable to attacks on the security, integrity or operation, including attacks using computing power sufficient to overwhelm the normal operation of the cryptocurrency’s blockchain or other underlying technology. Some cryptocurrency transactions will be deemed to be made when recorded on a public ledger, which is not necessarily the date or time that a transaction may have been initiated.
· Investors must have the financial ability, sophistication and willingness to bear the risks of an investment and a potential total loss of their entire investment in cryptocurrency.
· An investment in cryptocurrency is not suitable or desirable for all investors.
· Cryptocurrency has limited operating history or performance.
· Fees and expenses associated with a cryptocurrency investment may be substantial.
There may be risks posed by the lack of regulation for cryptocurrencies and any future regulatory developments could affect the viability and expansion of the use of cryptocurrencies. Investors should conduct extensive research before investing in cryptocurrencies.
